About She Will Fight

For women who want to move forward in backward times, She Will Fight is a network that helps you use your power to protect democracy through local actions that build lasting political power.

Our Why

Our democracy is in jeopardy. Fear, disinformation, and voter suppression make civic engagement feel impossible right now. In this chaos, too many women feel overwhelmed, unsure where to start or even if their efforts will matter. The greatest threat isn’t just political—it’s apathy and hopelessness taking hold, dividing us, making us forget our power.

As the organizers of She Should Run, we heard from women in our network that they would get more involved in local government if they had clear actions and simple steps they could take.

So we started asking questions. We surveyed, held focus groups, tested language, and tried to poke holes in anything that felt too abstract. The goal was to answer one big question: What do women need to turn their concern into meaningful action in their communities?

At the same time, we’ve been watching a bigger trend. The number of women running for and winning office has stagnated. That’s not a new problem. It’s been building for years. And given the political climate, this is an all-hands-on-deck moment. Because of our history helping women become more effective political participants, we’ve been preparing for this moment for more than a decade. She Should Run has been the go-to starting place for women’s political leadership. We’ve built real trust because we’re approachable, relevant, and focused on what matters.

We’re watching progress for women slide backward, and most people don’t even know where to begin. That’s why this work is more critical than ever. We have the credibility, the experience, and the grit to do something about it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is this a beta phase? What comes next?

This is the early phase of She Will Fight because we’re building it together with the women it’s meant to serve. We’re testing what works: which actions feel doable, what support feels helpful, and what kind of connection fuels real momentum. We need your ideas and feedback during the beta phase to make our tools and guides sharper and more relevant to what’s going on right now in your community.

Through the summer, we’re actively learning from every action you take, every story you share, and every response you report. We’ll use what we learn to launch the next version of She Will Fight—more powerful, more personalized, and built to meet this moment.

Who is this for?

Anyone who cares about their community and our democracy and wants to make a difference—especially women and nonbinary people who want to lead with heart, courage, and connection.

How were these actions built?

We started with some fundamental actions we know can reliably move the needle. Our surveys with elected officials, focus groups, and third-party research gave us a variety of actions that can resonate with all sorts of people and their personal experiences. We shaped them into easy-to-follow steps anyone can use. Submitting your own ideas for action and sharing your feedback is critical to help this community grow.

How is this connected to She Should Run’s larger mission?

She Should Run was founded in 2011 with a simple but bold belief: When more women step up to lead, our communities and our democracy are stronger. Over the years, we’ve helped hundreds of thousands of women take their first steps toward elected leadership. But right now, things are different. The stakes feel higher. The barriers feel heavier. And so we’re showing up differently. She Will Fight is our urgent response, rooted in everything we’ve learned and everything we believe. We’re offering women the tools, knowledge, and community to take action right where they are.
